72 CL350 kill switch

The kill switch does not work on my bike. Any ideas where I should start first? Diagnosis and treatment. Admittedly I don't know #$%* about fixing anything so be easy on me.

Do you mean the bike runs but the kill switch will not turn it off?...Larry

That is exactly right. I'm thinking that if my idle gets stuck (again) that it might not be pretty.

Assuming you're stock:

Your right handlebar switch has a number of wires. Each of the several black wires going in is 12 volts after the key switch - one of them goes through the kill switch and comes out as black/white.
The black/white then feeds the coils/points.......

You probably need to disassemble the switch and replace the knob.  There is an inner selector that moves from on to off as the switch is rotated-it frequently breaks, I just had to replace two within the past couple weeks.  Not all that difficult.  Or you could replace the entire switch or wire in your own kill switch-  as pointed out by thpmusic 12v black in and 12v black/white out to the coils...Larry
