Topic: want your guys opinion on a cb350

thinking about getting this. I think the price is a little high for a nonrunner. Thinking about offering him 400 and explaining that the fact that it isnt running could be a huge ordeal and point out other cosmetic stuff. Think i should get it?

That looks like a money pit. The diaphragm on the carbs usually gets hard and/or dry rotted, count on at least a 100 if that is bad.  Is there a title?  If so, 200 at most. There were a baziiion of those made, take your time and look for something better...Larry

The 350 twin was the most mass produced bike in US history.  There are many to be had.  I bought mine for $200 and enjoyed every minute of it (almost).  I say almost because I really don't like vibration and that's what you'll get from a twin.  If that's not a concern for you then go for a 350.  I sold mine at a huge profit but had it running unbelievably well.

I would say if it has a clear title and runs, it's worth about $400. The seller indicates it now has a difficult time starting. Maybe $300 and hope it is something simple and inexpensive to get it running?
If not, I'm sure you could part it out and not lose money.

I wouldn't go higher than $400, you'll need to easily put $300 or more in it to get it roadworthy.
Are you sure you want a 350 and not a 550?

i had a 550 and i loved it, i have a project 350f now that im gonna start working on soon and this one im considering working on as well. Dont know why but i feel the urge to get a twin. That whole 2 carb setup intrigues me. I am cafeing the 350s, if i got another 550 i would not cafe it but make it a daily type rider.

I have both a 350 twin and four. The twin is an aggressive torque machine compared to the smooth ride of the four. As mentioned previously, a stock twin puts out quite a bit of vibration. I like both but just something to consider. Twins are VERY common - which makes parts plentiful. Just don't be afraid to walk away from this deal if the seller is not negotiable since I suspect you'll need to invest some time and money to get this thing rideable.

I had one.    The most annoying thing with the CB350 twins is the air filters.  They're not made anymore, so the option is either a K&N Sock and rejetting, or taking the old filter, burning out the filament then taking a modern car filter, cutting it in half and gluing it into the plates. 

Definitely take a compression gauge with you.  I believed the guy I bought mine off of (bad idea) since he was a friend of my Mom's.  Pretty much if it's below 140PSI, IIRC, you need rigs.  Ideally in the 160-180PSI range.  Mine was 110 and 120PSI respectively and was a PITA to start.

Find out when/if the oil change was last done and check the drain plug.  It's common for them to be overtightened then rounded off.

Other than that, the 350 twin was definitely a fun and fairly light bike.  Nice and torque and the typical twin vibration.  Very different from the fours. 

For now I'd be inclined to skip that one and look for another.  Just looks too rough.

Same thing here in Alaska.  While there's a lot of old bikes up here, most have been left in the woods to rot, so not many actually show up for sale.  Been looking for an older enduro thumper most of the summer and haven't seen anything.
