Quick update: I wanted to get this thing running and see how it ran and shifted. I removed the airbox and found a pretty crappy filter inside. I had a Fram CA3681 lying around and with a little bending, got it to fit inside. The float bowls had nice clean gas inside so that was a good sign. I check the coils and they were good. The solenoid needed to be pulled apart and cleaned. After that, the starter worked.
I had to remove the front caliper piston and seal and clean them up. Reinstalled and a quick bleed. Seems to work ok. Good enought for my 1/4 mile long driveway.
Onto the points. The PO had new spares so I replaced them. I checked the advancer while I was in there and that worked smoothly. Did a static timing. I popped in fresh plugs and a new battery. Both tanks that came with the bike were nasty so I pulled the tank off my CB360 and stuck it up on top. Hit the starter and it fired right up. I love Hondas!
Surprisingly it didn't smoke. It actually idled nicely. I've taken it up and down the driveway a couple of times and shifted thru the gears. So far so good. I'll probably get it warmed up again and do a compression test. Then the tear down begins.
