Help - Missing Bolt On Brake Bracket - CB550!
« on: April 29, 2006, 03:46:51 PM »
While totally overhauling my front brake today, I noticed a hole that looked like it was supposed to have a bolt there, but it appears to be missing.

Please see attached photo.

Can anyone tell me what size bolt it is? I tried I few I had laying around, but none of them would thread in there very far.

Thanks in advance!

That's for the rain cover/fender widget over the break disc.

I did check to see if the hole was clear, and there isn't anything that I could tell that had snapped off in the hole.

So the rain thingy is attached there? I would guess  that the bold holding that on also helps hold the caliper bracket on the fork though, right?

Yes, that is the lower caliper bracket bolt.  I wouldn't ride until you get it replaced.  Just to be safe

thats the main caliper arm bolt.... !!!!! dont ride that until its replaces, otherwise you are expecting 2 M6 blots to stop 250kg!!! not good, the bolt is an M8 X 35mm hope this helps...peace

Thanks for the replies. I went to the hardware store and got a bolt. Glad I found that it was missing! Sounds pretty unsafe without it.
