Am I an idiot for never shutting my fuel petcock off?

Maybe not an idiot but perhaps affluent  ;D  If I did that the chances are I would walk into my garage one day to a very strong smell of petrol and a wet floor or worse a burnt out shell.

Hmmm well I'm not super wealthy so I guess from now on Ill shut it off.  I tend to sut it off If I go away on vacation and whatnot, but since my floats are properly adjusted and the needles seal up nicely I never really worry about it.  I suppose leaks can develop at any time and I should be more cautious.
" Why does anyone get offended by what someone does to their own bike? I dont get it. "

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

As long as your carbs are in good shape, no.  However, I shut mine off all the time as a precaution because numerous poeple have told me how old Harleys would ALWAYS flood the engine if you didn't.  Of course the Honda is, has been, and always will be a much better machine so.....
