Fairings/windshields for CB 550"s
« on: April 25, 2006, 08:10:20 PM »
Has anyone in the states had any luck finding a fairing or a windshield that will fit a 76 CB 550 Four?
All the searches I have done keep sending me to places where the product is for the larger 750's. Will these fit? After having a hornet bounce off of my chest leaving it's stinger firmly embedded in my left tit >:(, I have decided that a windscreen or a full fairing might not be such a bad idea after all. The good news is all the cute young women I work with have been laying it on with a trowel, and making such a wonderful fuss that it was almost worth getting stung for...almost.

When I got my 550F, it had a BIG plexiglass windsheild on it. it worked well but it was pushing a lot of air and looked like crap! so now I'm looking for something different. I've been watching people's pics for ideas.... ;D

I haven't found anything that trips my trigger so far so I think I am going to make my own, I used to be a dab hand at working with fiber glass. I think it's time to see if I still have the touch. I'll post some pics later.

try cycle-recycle, in Indianapolis IN. they (and others) sell the Viper brand universal windscreen and 1/4 fairing. the fairing is a copy of an older bmw type, but looks good on our bikes. only costs about $60.

there's a link to them in the FAQ's

During the Winter months I use a smallish handlebar mounted universal fairing on my 750.  It's completely clear so doesn't affect the look of the bike too much.  JC Whitney has them, it's called the Street Shield by National Cycle.

Thanks hym. I like the looks of the viper style, how did you get around this technical note *** I pasted this from the website *** (Fits most bikes with 7" headlights. Comes with hardware. Must be used with very short style cafe or drag bars. The mounts hook up to the bolts for the headlight so it is a clean looking mount system.) Did you have any trouble with the standard stock handle bars with this fairing, or have I got the wrong one?
