junkie leans back against the hitching post, takes a last drag off the cig and flips it into the street...notices a cocklebur on his left cuff and flicks it off - yup...HIGH NOON...

Apparently, people here forgot the mantra of opinions,

Opinions are like #$%*s, Everyones got one and they all stink!

Here is my smelly #$%*:, I love chrome, I love polished aluminum, I like spending time polishing and cleaning. What this is to me is quality time spent with my ride if I'm not on it riding around. My idea of a night out is going to Denny's. I don't like bars or club-hopping but I don't knock those who do because of another saying that flies around from time to time, To Each His Own.

I ride a Honda for many reasons, one of which is I could afford it at the time, another is I like the style. Would I buy a Harley if I had the funds? In a Freakin' heartbeat and Hell yeah!! Would I get rid of my Honda or put her to the side in favour of the Harley? Not for a second and Hell no. Each bike has its points I like and points I don't.

In the mean time, I'm gonna go polish some fins!

Peace and Long Rides,

Jeff

Well, I just hope everyone knows I'm only fooling around. Seriously debating the merits of chrome or polished aluminum is a lot like arguing over whether blue is a good color.

But hey, ElCheapo, I'm wondering if you would even lend a hand to a lawyer on a broken down OC Chopper? :D

To chrome or not to chrome is a matter if taste. It is a good thing we all have different taste. Otherwise in a bright sun ride we would all be blind  8)

Sure I need some lawyer advise for my biz so yes I would stop and help.

I've always heard that about white cars. I remember taking a trip with my dad and we kept track of the colors of cars broken down on the side of the road. I think it was something like 40% white, 60% all other colors combined. White is a popular color but I don't know what the ratio is on colors of cars sold. I know my white Mustang was a real problem child though.  :( And no, it wasn't because it was a Ford!

I know green was bad luck on racecars.  During the original IROC series, when they ran Porsche 911s, they would rotate drivers from car to car for different races to equalize things (IE, you couldn't claim a "faster" car for each race, even though they were all built to the same specs).  All the cars were identical and painted different solid colors to tell them apart.  Anyway, NOBODY wanted to drive the green car, saying that green cars are bad luck in racing.  IIRC, it did crash out more than the other cars, but that may have been psychological.

Does it matter what the bike looks like? Yes it does.......TO THE RIDER! My bike is somewhat dirty and needs a good cleaning. It will look much better then but I have to touch up the paint where the fairing bracket sat cause the dip#$%* PO did not put any rubber between the mount and the frame.
My engine has not been repainted since it was made. It needs it badly. I dont care what an engine looks like as long as it looks in good repair.

Hey ElCheapo,

I have said it before and will here say it again:  Great Minds Think Alike!

I gotta ask, what kind of range on your launcher? Air or ether?

I got a 2 incher with a five foot barrel using ether and I converted over to using lemons. That football shape works great and the lemon oil in the skin lubes the barrel with every launch! So far, my best lob is 491 yards at an airfield with no wind. I'm thinking of enlarging the ether chamber to see if that helps the range any.

Peace and Long Rides,

Jeff

It is definitely air powered. When I crank it up to 100psi I can make a potatoe disappear for good. With it cranked up I have never found the ejected potatoe. Crank it up to 100 PSI and give it about 45 degrees of angle and I'll bet I would hear complaints from as far away as a mile. ::) With a sabot loaded with crab apples I can blow holes in 1 1/2" plywood sandwich.  ;) The secret is a Rapid Exhaust Valve. It moves 8 cubic feet of air in 1/2 second down the barrel. Truth is this thing is destructive all the way down to 30 PSI with the amount of air leaving the exhaust valve. The picture gives you the rough idea. Mine is a bit different.

The key is volume rather than more air pressure. Start out with 1 12 inch PVC about 4 feet long and a 2inch x 5 -6 ft barrel. Drill a 2 inch hole in one cap and slip it over your barrel, then in side make a brace that will keep it sitting still in the tube. Then with a piece of 3/8 plexi make it cut out the circle so it slips right in the large tube to cover the open end of your barrel. Your are going to stretch thin rubber or latex over the plexi. Not too tight. The rubber side to the barrel. Then you need to install an air inlet in the 12" end cap and a 2 inch ball valve that is a 1/4 turn. then install a inlet valve in the 12 inch pipe. Any way it should look a bit like the picture. You air up the rear chamber of the launcher first and then the main chamber. The pressure in the rear chamber keeps the valve plate closed against the back of the barrel thus trapping the pressure in the main chamber. Naturally the pressure in the rear chamber must be greater than the main chamber to stay closed. When you flip open the firing valve the pressure in the main chamber will slam the valve open instantly and exiting the barrel. BTW the guide for the valve plate is optional and takes some experimenting.

Enjoy.
