Someone stole my side covers to my 550 in Brooklyn. Kind of annoying considering they were in mint condition. Anyone know where to get another set for a 1976 550?

Thanks

Such bull#$%* Anthony. I actually thought you pulled them before your trip to be safe.

Gramme stuff told me he wasn't doing 550 covers because there is a company in England (sold on eBay) that sells them already. Unless he has started making them - that might be your quickest choice.

I waited around for 6 months until I finally found 2. But you saw what my bike looke like :). Didn't look any worse than the rest of it without them. Yours is too nice for them to be missing.

Damn!  He's got a '76 K

That is a righteous offer though.  So nasty they took them off his bike, on one of the most populated streets in brooklyn.  Ugh!

thanks for the help. appreciate it.

I was hoping for finished covers, not the primed ones. This might be harder than expected.

I dont care about paying as long as they are in decent shape and original brown color.

Damn, where do I sign up? I have a '78 with one broken peg on the left side. But it'll be a while before I get around to that project; this Winter at the earliest.

You will be searching a long time to find good covers in original brown paint.
I had a couple painted to match my 550 for $50.

Good Luck

I am shocked that something like that would happen in Brooklyn of all places, but one never knows. When you do get a new set of covers people on here have been drilling a small hole in the tabs and putting a small cotter pin through it. Keeps them from a quick snatch and run, it also keeps them from flying off.

I bought a set from of Frakenstuff and he does some beautiful work.

That's exactly why I carry my bike cover most places I go. In front of my house and at work my bike stays covered to keep prying hands away. I also use my steering lock religously. Until they start cutting off fingers and hands for theft punishment, it will always be a problem.

I do the exact same thing duanob, and I'm only 1 block away from Anthony (OP). Totally sucks that it happened to him, and I worry about it all the time. But I hope that the cover (and steering lock) keep me safe. It at least gives me peace of mind (even if it's wishful thinking).

I also carry a pair of shrub trimmers in my back pocket, in case I actually catch the f#@Kers, then I can take care of that fingers problem myself :)
