CB750K3 - back from the grave, with sporting intentions
« on: March 05, 2011, 04:27:12 PM »
Now that the 550 cafe has basically been completed, time to start the next project. :)

In order for Denis to recreate the mono shock frame for my other project, he required an early, straight 750K frame.  One was located, and came with lots of parts, including an extra complete engine.

As you can see lots of stuff is missing.  Seat, a good tank, but mainly a front end.  The front end issue has been remedied.  Thanks to Wannabridin it will be getting an early GL, complete with Progressive springs, and calipers.  Disks from Ebay, drilled and refaced by formulasuper are on the shelf.  Along with preload adjusters from Voxonda.  Also sourced are black powder coated rims, and a seat.

The only major piece missing was a good tank.  Decided it should be an early K tank, and went eBay shopping.  The price was right, so this 'masterpiece' found a new home.

Time to hit it with the stripper, 3M wheel, and see what lay under the flames.

A coat of primer sealer, and all the little dings appeared.  Next up, sand those areas back to metal and body filler.  Them start preparing for paint.  Also have to get the Frankenstuff supplied side covers out, and get them ready for paint.

Given how much is missing, it should be an interesting project getting it back on the road.

Welcome aboard RR.  This ones basically going to be stock, but with a couple of simple upgrades.  Of course, because so much is missing, is does give me some latitude to have some fun. ;) :)

I did kind of like them.  Unfortunately the other side was badly faded from the sun, and there were dings to fix.  I haven't decided on a final colour yet, so the body work will stay in primer for a while.

yes & no.  An engine (came with 2) will serve as the bases for my JMR billet 1080 bike.  Eventually that bike will replace the Inteceptor.  Which kind of tells you were that build will be headed.  I also decided to try and go vintage sidecar racing next year.  So my time / money priorities have change. ;) :)

What I will probably do is make a list of stuff, and post it on the For Sale.  There's also a 73 500/4 in boxes with piles of chromed parts that was waiting in line.  Not sure what to do with it right now. ::)  Most likey I delete this thread as the build its self is a dead.
