psp!!!!!!!two thumbs down..
« on: April 30, 2005, 06:21:38 PM »
Well, I'll just throw a few ideas out there and see what you guys think.  The foam element in the bottom of the airbox.  What is it's purpose and is it necessary to saturate it with filter oil like the regular replacement uni filter?  And, i'm looking for rubber carb boots.  The ones that connect to the airbox and are always dry rotted.  Mine are cracked and look horrible when the rest of the bike is now mint.  It's the only cosmetic flaw on the bike now and I would like to replace them.  I've had my eyes on ebay for the past few months.  but the only ones I have found on there are for the carb/motor side.  And one more thing.  Breather tubes. Now that I have the correct routing under control. I'd also like to replace these with new ones.  I looked on powersportspro.com and they wanted $19 for one little foot long rubber tube.  That's insane!!!!!!! So I went to the auto parts store and the hose they had was that thick heater hose.  It will work, but is almost twice the outside diameter.  I guess i'm just looking for a new website to buy parts from.  The microfiche is nice so you can pinpoint what part you need.  But the prices just aren't competitive.  Suggestions/ideas???

I'm on a search for a good website to draw part numbers off of.  I tried ordering the parts on psp and then just using their order form to steal the part numbers off of. But I guess they got smart and no longer list the oem part number.  The only thing it said  under the part number column was "Genuine Honda".  So once I find a good fiche with part numbers, I'll get back to you.

PCV Positive Crankcase Ventilation. You really don't need the filter to begin with. Mine comes off the valve cover and rests just above the air filter. It vents to atmosphere. The filter is to separate the oil from the air and burn it in the cylinders. Emissions crap.

Just head down to your local flexible pipe shop (one that deals in hydraulic hoses and the like). They will have all the hoses you will ever need for your bike, much cheaper than wasting time on the web!

Cheers.

HONDA still had those manifolds (carb to air filter box) a couple years ago for bout $16 each. That piece of foam is no biggie. Any air filter medium will word and it will oil itself. LOL Low Pressure/emissions line is much thinner wall and should work fine. Also, I agree, venting to outside air is fine. I pop for the mini filter from UNI?? looks like a little red K&N. Bout $13-15 bucks but they look cool.

Thanks for all the posts guys.  I think I read somewhere that when this crankcase breather is connected to the airbox, it can actually rob power from the engine once it is warm and running.  It seems like anything that works to rescue the environment usually takes its check from our power hungry motors.

heater hose and fuel hose will not replace any hose that oil contacts. To different types of rubber.  They will swell because they absorb the oil.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

Chung, you said that you bought the filterbox to carb rubbers a few years ago.  Well, I went to my honda dealer to order them, and when they brought up the fishe on my bike, it listed those rubbers and the distribution chamber all as one piece.  The part was a little over a $100.  All I want is one outside rubber boot.  The parts guy checked one aftermarket catalog that he thought might have it.  However, no such luck.  I told him that you had purchased these before and he asked me to get back on the message boards and try to get a little more information on the subject.  So sohc4 members............here's your chance.  If anyone has bought these boots in the past, were they aftermarket?, oem?  And if aftermarket, what company?  thanks

You can get the airbox to carb boots from CMSL. I ordered a set of 4 last summer and they were pretty reasonable I thought. Still listed on their web site they list the set of 4 for 18 pounds? Don't know the current exchange rate.
