Many thanks!
Yeah, I remember the anxiety in Spain then. What was general Milans del Bosch going to do? I remember some admiral nervously smoking cigarettes outside who obviously didn't know who's side to choose. Then - finally - the King spoke and ended it all. Seems like yesterday.

Wish I knew half about dutch history than you know about spanish history....

Thirty years later there are still mysteries that probably will never be known. What is true is that they broke into the Congress without a fully thought-out plan. They just expected the army would join them but with the pass of the hours it was clear that they were going nowhere as there was no clear support from all the generals. One thing is what you say with your friends around a poker table -or "mus" table in Spain- with some drinks too much, and another thing is going to that extent. Probably Tejero thought that the people complaining about the government were serious when it came to seizing the power.

Enough thread hijacking, sorry about that Bankerdanny :-)

No sweat. It's always nice to learn something about other cultures from a native.

I had this same issue last week and BikerDanny really helped me a lot with guidance on how to fix it (thanks!). I finally soldered the three terminals on the switch this weekend. When I put everything back on, the bike started up right away and seemed to have a great connection.

I took a two hour ride and she was running like a beauty. I stopped for about ten minutes during the ride, shut off the engine, and it started right back up when I got back on. Once I got home, it sat for about 3 hours before I went to go for another quick ride. When I hit my electric start, I just got clicks. My battery was almost completely dead. Is there something that could have caused that when soldering the starter switch? The dead battery could be just a fluke, but I fear that I created a new problem in trying to fix the connection. None of the terminals were touching when I soldered the rivets, but maybe something else went wrong.

This is a resurrected post as my issued happened back in 2011. I met Paul (Sokolipt) a week or so ago when I helped his roomate sort a sticking front brake caliper on his '77 550F. Paul has an imaculate '78 550K with like 2,300 miles on it. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

But to answer your question, I was on my way back from Dubuque.

I didn't catch the old post, jeez. I'm a wee bit south but always willing when I can help.

By the time it happened I was less than 5 miles from home. I was even already on my street, just a bit west. As it happened a guy stopped to help me (it was almost midnight) and it turned out he had a CB400 and was a member of the forum, but not very active. He actually drove me home.

I'll keep that in mind though. I had a flat with my MG last month and had to get towed the last 35 miles to Dubuque (flat spare and wire wheels, so tubes. Couldn't just use fix a flat). Even with the roadside assistance discount it cost me $180.
