That CX500T 'saddle box'? could be used as an auxiliary fuel tank on that bike and you could ride across the globe on one tankful !

They are wide for stability, you can drift them. If my buddy and I get to the point where we can't hold up a bike we're getting CanAm's. The way we look at it we're still out in the wind riding.

They’re horrible. Built by a company that makes snowmobiles, all they did was remove the skis and tracks, and replaced them with wheels. I see a few over here, but they’re not popular as they’re neither a motorcycle or a car. I’d rather buy a CycleX CB750 trike frame and build a neat chop that isn’t bigger than most cars.

They are popular in Quebec where there are many (MANY) snowmobiles and a huge network of trails. Having one lets you ride all year without much relearning. The CanAms handle a lot like snowmobiles, and they are relatively powerful. The big advantage over a trike conversion is that you are always looking at the front end... conversions seem pretty much like a normal motorcycle to the rider and trying to drive one through a gap where the motorcycle would go and finding out that the trike rear end won't is not a rare mistake for conversion rides.
The CanAms are engineered as trikes rather than putting a conversion on. They have quite effective stability control and have to be really abused to roll over.

I ride (drive) a Polaris Slingshot. I still know bikes are more fun and and cooler. The Slingshot is very car like and the rear tire is easy to break loose. After years riding sport bikes and old Hondas, my body can not deal with bikes. Still, I have the wind in my face and it is a different type of fun. Still have my caferacer in my shop and my SIL has my CB 750 and is working to get it closer to stock.

The more I see of sidecars on bikes, the more I’d like to get one, if I’d put one on the Triumph Rocket III in February I wouldn’t have needed to remove the car tyre that the PO had put on the back of it, that cost me $909 to replace. (both tyres) Hmmnnn a sidecar on one of my Rocket III’s would be interesting.

He hasn’t even riden it yet… better hope he got the carbs really clean or it will be a nightmare…

Some people have no taste and should be kept away from tools and paint…

Sad part, I think , is the compliments he has gotten on it…
