That orange Route 66 modified bike seems to have solved the 'bucket seat dilemma' that most bikes today have:you get stuck sitting in exactly one position on the seat, which to me,is uncomfortable.I like the steel frame he added although I think it raises the seat up too high.

Those little XV250 Yamaha's were good bikes, I think Yamaha has been making different versions for over 20 years now? Honda disgraced themselves with a couple of attempts, I was given a dead Honda VT250 that I quickly gave to someone else who spent a fortune restoring it, only to find that he didn't really like the bike, so he traded it in on a Suzuki.

I think Honda might have fixed it with the later VTR250, which looks like a nice little bike. Honda has a reputation for building really good bikes, but also has a dark history of failed designs, mainly with the early VT/VF twins and fours. Yamaha have been building pretty good V twins from day 1, even though I'm not big on fake Harleys. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The metric cruiser V twin thing never made sense to me. I think they were chasing a shrinking demographic. I've never been a Harley fan and the metric cruisers just never connected with me.

The worse bike I ever bought was a 'custom' KZ1000 - fitted with a Harley split fat bob tank.

To make the tank fit, the previous owner chopped out two of the three frame tubes under the tank - allowing the steering head to twist - which it did....

I only bought it for the KZ1000 Mk II engine.

ekpent, I just sent him a note advising him to get red of the ram-air thing and put a stock airbox on it. To me that would be at least a better place to start getting it running right.
