Carb leak at fuel "T" tubes (cb750 k6)
« on: July 17, 2011, 06:34:55 PM »
Hello all, after only about a week of sitting waiting to fix a clutch cable, my carbs were all leaky and I found the problem to be above the gasket line at the metal "T" fitting which separates the fuel into carbs 1/2 or 3/4.  My carbs are otherwise clean and so I'm wondering what the easiest way is to remove my two metal "T's" to install new o-rings on them?  Do I need to pull all the carbs off, or can I just pull off the outside carbs (1 and 4)?  Any help is appreciated, here is a pic. of the fitting…    Bike is a CB750 K6.  THANKS!

You'll have to pull off the rack to get at the screws to release the 2 outside carbs, at the least.  :(

You'll need 4 O-rings of 2x8mm size for each T (8 total). If you can't find them locally, let me know: I can send a you a set of 8 for $6 (includes shipping), since I bought 40 of them a month ago. Try Ace Hardware: they are expensive, but often have them in stock.

There may be a "sweet" spot where they can be positioned to not leak.  I have also had them, and petcock seals, spontaneously quit leaking after being exposed to fuel for 1-3 days.  After 3 days, I start ordering rubber bits.

Yeah, I think not available from Honda, but I just googled O-rings locally, found a source, and bought a bunch for $5

anytime i have to get o rings for something i always get a few, take the tee and the carb to the shop when you go down even,i use a little petroleum jelly when fitting them back together, just work the o ring in your fingers with the jelly then wipe it off dont glob it all over itll attract grit etc.
