Yeah, its not a bad way to earn a living.
Nice company to work for and nice people to work with.

We still see a few of the old regas with the Acos arm if they come back for repair.

Sweet, I have a Planar 3 with some tonearm wire mods, motor mod, and after market tonearm weight driven by a VPI SDS.
I found the speed tweaked up a bit so I had to slow it down with the SDS and to get a little more stability.

Would a groovetracer reference sub platter be a good upgrade to my table?

That is exactly why I got rid of mine. The P3's have a reputation for being a bit fast.

Yeah, I think that is how they get that crisp, clean punch that reviewers rave about- higher pitch.

It strobed high and I decided to tame the high speed with the SDS since it is an asynchronous motor and you have to tweak the frequency to get it to slow down.
Even slower it is still a good table, I bought the Exact for it when it was time to swap out cartridges.

I would have to plunk down a lot more cash to get a much better sound, so I am OK for now.

LOL, the rega speed debate ::)

Ive talked about this on forums before, then gone back and deleted all my posts.
This conversation always seems to get out of hand.

All ill say is the myth that there tuned fast is just that, a myth.

Im more than willing to offer advice and help to any rega owners, but please PM me rather than me posting in public. I can be far more helpfull via PM :)

Im pretty lucky, my wife works there too, she builds apheta's, regas totl MC cartridge. Which is handy as she managed to get a good enough deal to buy me one for christmas :)

Here's an odd one for you:

Jagodic is a Croatian composer who incorporates video and slide projections in his live performance. He has collaborated with John Cage. Super interesting and super rare.

Mah, not trying to argue about the speed thing but my Planar 3 did strobe high and I had to tweak my speed down- my personal experience.

It is a great sounding table for the money, I will also say that.

A composer making music with the Cramps? Interesting.

Nah. Just the name of the Italian label the record is on. They released alot of experimental avant-garde stuff (John Cage, etc.)

I can believe it, all TT's will speed up a little as the parts bed and wear in, then slow down as they wear out. Not too dissimilar from our bikes ;D.
A TT with fixed speed will then need a little tweeking to keep it running how it should.

Ive quality/speed tested 10's of thousands of these so as i say, feel free to ask questions if you ever need too, but with an adjustable PSU i guess you have this pretty much covered now 8)

Our HR manager is a big punk fan, has i big record collection too. Not really a genre i know much about, maybe ill get him to give me a crash course.

Hey Johhny -

I own a record store also, Sound Exchange in Houston. In my...ahem... younger days I saw the Dicks and Big Boys many many times. Small world. Oh, and I also repair turntables, so I think I win this thread!

Yep, we just recorded a new LP. Actually, we just played Chaos in Tejas in June.

I have a question and maybe you guys can help. I have old reel to reel tapes of albums, manufactured by companies, and I don't know what to do with them. They are in storage but off the top of my head I know I have Kiss Alive, Bad Company Bad Company, and many others. These are ones you would purchase from the reel to reel section at your local record store. The boxes are manufacured by the record comapny and the tapes are labeled much like an record would be. I have never seen anything like these before, granted I haven't done much hunting, but anyone have any ideas?

Agreed. It's similar to laserdiscs (or sohc4 bikes, for that matter) in that certain titles have a cult following. KISS Alive on reel to reel?! Ebay that #$%*!
