Somewhere on the internet there must exist a vinyl-lover forum, where somebody who runs a motorcycle salvage has written a thread titled "This is how I support my vinyl habit" showing how much some people has paid for a wrinkle tank, a recessed ignition switch or a short chainguard.

And the regulars of that forum will freak out about how crazy some people is to pay that much for those parts....

That was quick!
We've been having a lot of luck with local 80s 12" singles here recently:

Nice! That's been my experience with any of the Detroit and Chicago house music 12 inches from the 80's. I only wish I saw more that weren't completely trashed.

have you sold any of these?  Suicide Commandos LP recorded in 1978 at the Longhorn Bar in Minneapolis.  582 out 1000 originals.  I was even there at the show. :)

Here is a Butcher Cover I have had since high school when I foolishly steamed off the pasted over trunk cover.  :'(

I am also going through my brother's records and have found a few interesting things like the Stones "Some Girls", the uncensored cover, I have two one opened but still wrapped and the other still sealed.  Along with two pink 12 inch singles "Miss You b/w Faraway Eyes.  Madonna Angel picture disc, a bizarre picture disc by Barnes & Barnes shaped like a fish head ;D,

Nice collection there! I am not familiar with that Suicide Commandos LP but I have their first (self titled?) recording that I still listen to on occasion. That butcher cover looks nice. I've seen so many ruined when the owners attempt to peel the paste over but yours appears good.

There are some clips on you tube from one of their LP's there is very little original live footage.  I first saw them in 1975 or 6 when they came to my high school.  I remember it left a lot of kids scratching their heads as punk had not really hit out in the boonies where I grew up.  When I moved to Minneapolis I would see them often at the Longhorn Bar till they broke up.  One of the very early punk bands that started the punk scene in Minneapolis.

A video that they made.

This is jogging my memory bones.  Check out this obscure Minneapolis band from the same era.  NNB recorded only a few songs with Slack being the most well known and maybe the best song of that era to come out of Minneapolis.  I have this on a 45 packed away somewhere.  Two other songs were on the compilation double LP Big Hits of Mid America Vol. III.

Johnny, have you ever seen any of their stuff?

It's a real lost gem.  I hope you enjoy it.

Steve Almaas from the Commandos later went on to form Beat Rodeo.

I have the 'Big Hits' compilation but I have not heard or seen anything else by them. Although, I've been in Chicago since 2002 so I don't see as much Minneapolis music as I used. However, I see plenty of Naked Raygun, Shellac, etc.

for people that are wondering about the value of their records, just check discogs. while they admittedly don't have everything in the universe listed, they do have an impressive database of releases that most people would find meets their needs.

I would also add www.musicstack.com and www.popsike.com. Generally, when I'm researching items to list for sale on eBay, I have tabs open for those three sites as well as 'Buy It Now' listings on eBay. Between the four sites, I can accurately set a good selling price 98% of the time.

Hey Johnny, I think you'd appreciate this..

A friend of mine found an unmarked LP at a garage sale in NYC, with a bunch of stuff salvaged from a house fire. He paid $0.75 for the record. It turned out to be an acetate from Velvet Underground's Sceptor studios session... It ended up selling for $25, 000 or so. Possibly the best score ever?
