Topic: Vintage Dirtbike Motocross last night

I raced my 1st motocross (vintage class) last night.  My buddy wanted a good turn out so i said id race one of his vintage 85' CR250's in the Hendricks County Fair Moto race.   18 vintage riders showed up last night along with 200 other riders for the other classes.

I got to line up with Rick Smits (ex Indiana Pacer star)  he took 2nd and I was 2nd to last   I would of done better if i jumped the doubles but i promised the wifey i would be healthy for vacation this week.  Was a ton of fun.  My two buddies got 4th and 7th.

That's too cool!!!  I have never done any kind of motocross, but it always looked like it would be a blast!!!  Vintage would just make it that much cooler!

Being in Alaska, I have done vintage snow machine races though.  I've raced twice now in the Fairbanks Tired Iron on a 1979 Kawasaki Invader 440.  Finished 8th last year.  Was a lot of fun, and really, it's just cool to be out there racing on such old but still wicked fast sled. 

Seeing all the other "old stuff" is cool too.  Last I heard they were talking about maybe doing a vintage motorcycle ice-race for this next year, in addition to the normal sled events.  If they do, my little 100 might be getting studs...

Awesome, you got "2nd", nice job! Years ago I had a YZ125 - what a blast to ride.

no Rick Smits got 2nd    my buddy got 4th and i got 2nd to last.  this was my first motocross race ever.  i normally just trail ride and track ride with my buddy Keith.
