I'm an avid climber... for many years. ;D
Outside in many different places and inside as well.

Just curious...

Hey DJ_AX,
Yep i'm a climber but i'm on the other side of the planet to you.

I've been to europe and asia climbing. Heaps of places in Australia and New Zuland.
I even built a bouldering gym in Melbourne, free training is good I just need to get back into it and get strong again.

I grew up at a summer camp here in AR called Camp Ozark. It's a bit of a rich kid camp, but my mom works there so I got to go. They have a real nice climbing tower and went on trips to climb in the Ouachita Mt. I would go with some other friends who climbed as well. Now I'm a member in a gym that has a pretty nice indoor climbing tower, but I haven't used it yet. I usually go to the gym with my wife and she's afraid of heights. I guess I just need to skip working out to climb sometime. I've never climbed indoors before.

I'm gonna wear my Vibram five finger shoes to see how well they do with climbing.

I don't think they would do as well as climbing specific shoes, not sure they would be as good to jamb and smear.

Well, I don't have climbing specific shoes and probably won't be buying any anytime soon, so I hope they work good enough.

Ha ... I know a few whom have tried those shoes.  :) Didn't work very well  ::)
I'd imagine it's better than loose tennis shoes or boots though!

I'm owner of TheDetroitRockClimbingCompany

So I got the hookup on holds and training gear  ;D

Yeah, I'm hoping they're better than running shoes because that's all I've got. I just don't have the time and money for all of my hobbies. Each one requires it's own pair of shoes. Motorcycles, skateboarding, canoeing, if I start climbing again... There needs to be one shoe to rule them all.

Go and get some Dunlop Volleys a size or 2 smaller than you street shoes and you'll be fine.

They are great training shoes..

Some people prefer even to climb bare foot! Not me.

I usually wear Five Ten Mocasyms ..pic 1. A slipper with a lot of stretch and good on all terrain.

I still own and occasionally wear a pair of the original LaSportiva Mirages (circa 1995)..pic 2. The climbing shoe equivalent of a Sandcast.  ::)  Super aggressive for climbing severely overhanging routes but fully capable on slab as well.

How much room do you have?
And what angles are you thinkin' for your wall?
I can also get you the cheapest price on hardware... Bolts and T-Nuts! ;)

Not a lot of height, around 8 foot but my basement is empty so its all game. My goal is to create a horseshoe like bouldering route with a couple good over hangs so I can get used to hanging back :D Still reading up a bit on home made setups.
