interesting fork leak
« on: July 20, 2011, 07:38:50 PM »
I do believe my newly assembled fork is leaking from one of the axle bolts...possible?

Can they be pulled out and cause a leak, if yes can they be re tightened or thread locked sealed?

There should be a copper crush washer under the head on the 8mm allen bolt that fastens the damper rod. If it is missing or damaged that will be the cause of your leak.

Replaced those, as was suspected originally. Not wet but this one bolt is. Wondering if can be r&r d with some sealant?

Check the drain screws.

Yeah, blue loctite is recommended for those bolts.

Are you sure its not the drain bolt that is actually leaking?  That's what happened to mine.  It looked like it was coming from the axle cap stud, but was just running down to it from the drain bolt and collecting there.  I bought new copper crush washers for both the allen bolt and the drain bolt.  Replaced both.
