CB500 tapered bearings vs balls
« on: July 20, 2011, 07:08:23 PM »
So i have my steering stem apart and contemplating an all balls taperedcbearing kit.

-i never had a steering issue, some fork bounce. What kind of improvement should expect?

-i dont want to compromise the orignal fork ears, will i have to magiver a solution or is it plug an d play?

-if i choose to use orignl ball bearings, what grease is suggested?

Thanks

In all honesty do what you feel is best. My KO had 19,000 miles when I got it. Steering was nice and smooth with the OEM balls. I cleaned the balls and inspected the races which had no dents or notches. I repacked both top and bottom races and balls and put it back together. Smooth as silk. On the other side, my K4 has serious dents in the races and was scary to drive as the steering would "catch" in spots. So I installed the All
Balls kit and it is so smooth. Same with my K1 with the All Balls. You need to determine what condition they are in and go from there.
