Hi ,I have looked on the forum and came across a few good leads. I have checked servicehonda.com,ebay, and a few other websites. Each site list parts as discontinued.
My front brake is frozen on my1977 cb550k from sitting since 1983.  I'm guessing that I should rebuild the master cylinder and caliper. Where can I purchase complete rebuild kits? Also, my front brake hoses has some cracks in the outer rubber. So, I need to find both front hoses. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance. --Josh

Slingshot cycles for the brake hoses.  He is a forum member, do a search and order-I got upper and lower hoses for my 400 four for less than 50 shipped.  David Silver Spares in England has a replacement mc if necessary. Kevin on this forum has a phenolic caliper piston available for a great price and siriusconic in Canada has rebuild kits for the mc.  Caliper seal still available from Honda.  Good luck and search the forum as there are many threads on rebuilding the mc and caliper...Larry

Larry, I just ordered my hoses from slingshot thanks! What is  phenolic caliper piston? I'm new at this so, I am unaware of some of the terms associated with motorcycles. I did get the bike running, now I need to get the bike to stop.  Your in PA near Philadelphia by chance? Thanks Josh

West Grove, about 40 miles west in the highly taxed county of Chester(just got my school tax bill :'( :'(.  A phenolic piston is a high temp plastic that Kevin revamps from an automotive brake piston-will never rust or pit, really works well.  Search under good sellers using Kevin and phenolic and you should be good to go...Larry

School taxes huh. I know what you mean. They never go down.
Well I want to keep you updated on my progress. I got the caliper "unstuck". The brake pad had some corrosion around the outside edges preventing it from moving. The piston looks clean  and slides nicely. The master cylinder pushes fluid and does not leak. I think my lines are collapsed. I wanted to get this bike on the road asap. Slingshot cycle will be delayed till the end of the month. They must be on vacation.
Things are looking up. This will be my first untouched. Non customized motorcycle. It's completely factory  stock. Now I need to do some reading up on the forum to learn to post photos.

yea, 5300 worth.  Even though the mc pushes fluid you really should take it apart and clean it, especially the two holes in the reservoir.  If the caliper was gooey the mc piston has to be...Larry
