HELLO!!!!!!
« on: July 19, 2011, 08:17:34 AM »
Hello everyone. Just joined the forum and love it.I own a 1977 cb750 automatic and love it also, 6500 org miles. Org everything(except paint) I think!!!!!!!! This baby is canary yellow(Hence my tweetybird username). I've been reading and don't think they were ever offered in yellow. But the paint looks factory, backs of the sidecovers are yellow plastic, not painted and blue pinstripes are painted on and sealed with clearcoat or something like that. Emblems all org honda. Can't believe not factory paint job, but not blue or red. Could they maybe be off of a 76 supersport that came in sulfer yellow?
Gonna try to attach photo if can figure out how. And again hi to everyone

Welcome TB, a real good looker you have there. 8) 8) 8)
I don't think the tank is off a Supersport. If It's a stock auto tank, you should find a fuel guage sender unit under the filler flap that the Supersport didn't have.
Try to get down to Rockingham next month and meet our automatic drag race team.

thank you for your reply sir. There is a pickup under the fuel door so I guess its  original tank. With a very expensive paint job, I can live with that. :). Do any of the folks here use lead substitute in their fuel? Been using 93 octane with a little lead substitute added to it. Owners manuel said use (regular gas). Don't know if they mean regular leaded or unleaded, I don't remember a lot of unleaded in 1977. The cool thing is she was built the same year I graduated for high school which adds sentimental value. A friend of mine bought one of these back in 1978 and I laughed at him because it was an automatic, now look at me LOL guess what comes around goes around as they say. Thanks again and any help on the gas will be appreciated.

I have always ran mid grade unleaded in mine.  Spark knock on regular, and no performance gain with premium.  76 should have the hardened valve seats, since unleaded was required in 1975 and newer cars, and leaded fuel was already getting hard to find by then.

We run a 50/50 mix of regular and 110 race gas in the race bike but to the best of my knowledge, all Hondas from 58 onwards were designed to run un-leaded. Never run a higher grade fuel than what the manufacturer states, your just waisting your hard earned $ (or £ in my case. ;D )

You need to let us have close up pictures of the left hand foot of the stand in the up and down positions.
From the picture you posted, it's to small to see any detail.
There should be a hooked part that acts as a leaver, you put downward pressure with your foot while pulling the bike up and backwards.

correct Sam I got that part just like the venture I had.The differnce is the venture had highway bars around saddlebags to grab hold to.Foot on stand, one hand on highway bar, other on left grip and UP. cb750 has no highway bars so nothing on back of bike to grab to lift it :(
