cb350F exhaust gaskets - cotton wad
« on: July 29, 2011, 09:59:07 AM »
The gasket set that I bought came with these funny looking cotton exhaust gaskets, rather than the copper ring variety.  They look sort of like a ring of cottom pipe cleaner with a loose coil of thin copper wire wrapped around them.

Has anybody used these?

I was thinking of just installing them on top of the old squashed copper ones  (at least I am assuming that there are old squashed copper ones in there, cant really tell).

Anyway, are you supposed to coat these cotton rings with anything, or just put them in dry?  Do they work?

thanks for any insights.

Thanks, man.

Yeah, I thought that it went well with the '73 bike.  I can't stand today's over-styled cyborg / Halo helmets.

Wait, why am I participating in a hijack of my own thread?!   ;)

Those gaskets should be fine. Pull the old ones out first though. It is hard to tell if they are in there, but they are. Just work at them with a flat screwdriver. There might be more than one to remove from each port.

Many of the gaskets I have replace over the years are of the pipe cleaner style. A small pick of the L-shape style is great for pulling the old gasket out...Larry
