Since I have joined this site I have been spending literally several hours a day reading over procedures, maintenance concerns and stories members have shared about their bikes... The old lady is getting irritated.. I am wondering how you all manage your time with bike, site, family life........

Or am I the only one who spends this much time on the site?

Am I the only one who has an old lady getting irritated with the amount of time spent on the site?

i was going to reply but my bike just sounded its horn at me so i have to take it for a ride,a bit like a dog hassling you for a walk.

since i started this whole bike rebuild after i finished summer term A i have taken off work, told my friends im staying in for the night (so i could wake up and work on my bike), have been yelled at by all my girl-friends that i dont hang out with them enough, havent gone outside, im still kinda white other than when im walking the junkyard for parts other than that im in the garage........

every other facebook post are " is you bike don yet

"

so thats a great question how do you manage? maybe just finish the bikes hahahahaha

^^^ that's awesome. I've been trying to get the girl involved for a while now.

At the moment I have 11 bikes in my garage, none of them run, all of them are projects.
So it's safe to say that I can get pretty consumed and distracted by them.
It's important to give the lady plenty of attention too though.

My solution so far has been to just sleep less.

If she gives you an ultimatum like "it's either the bikes or me" that's an easy choice.
I don't want some overbearing/controlling woman taking away from me the things I love most.
Luckily it has not come to that.

Tell her it is hers. Then you are free to work on it and spend your money on it, not hers.

She knew I had my Venture when we met and she new it was not going anywhere but with me.

SO's needs the same quality maintenance considerations that the CB does. A little tender loving care goes a long way toward a lasting ownership/relationship. Your CB will not get upset if you spend some time working on the SO and that goes a long way in getting the SO to not mind you spending some time with the CB. Balance your time well and you get to ride both.

I frequent several forums for different loves, SOHC4, VTXOA, Jeeps, Trucks, you name it. But when the SO needs some polishing I do not hesitate to put the puter down and get to work.

Also, do the majority of the housework and fix things around the house quickly when they need attention. If you do these things and give her the attention she needs, then she has no real leg to stand on when telling you how to spend what free time you have remaining. In fact, she'll probably be happy to see you doing what makes you happy.

I'm in 8th place for time spent on this forum, and I have a wife and two children. This method has worked very well for us.

I was in a god awful relationship for 6 years where I was "forbidden" to own a motorcycle. I left her and the first thing she does is buy a motorcycle.

All well and good. I'm close to completing my Cafe project and my way hotter girlfriend rides a ninja 650.. I should have walked the first time she said anything like that. I have for sure learned my lesson and the new girl knows that crap won't fly..

I dont have to worry about this.
no significant other,so my bikes get all the attention.
spent 9 hrs here yesterday reading older threads.

any woman I hook up with will know in no uncertain terms that I dont intend to change,
so if she has any ideas that she can "make me what she dreams I can be"
they get shot down on day one.

accept me as I am or keep going.

I am married w/kid and work full time, still find 1-2 hours on most days to spend on the bike and/or forum. Once in a while she'll say "you really don't need three motorcycles in the garage" and I quickly remind her I could have a less desirable hobby! And when she asks why I'm on the forum so much, I mention that I could be surfing porn instead!!

I have four kids, 3 at home one in seattle that I lfy out to get from time to time, in grad school, finished my internship two weeks ago and recently purchased my second house... I love multi tasking!!!

I for one ,and maybe more, have made a solid opinion about some of the 'men' who post here on the Forum when they 'expose' their actual relationships with their wives/ others..... has a sad tone to it
