Happy to have found sohc4.  I have an '82 Honda CB650 and a couple of questions:

1. Does anyone know a relatively easy way to get the factory engine coating off.  I'd like to do some polishing but it takes forever just to get through the "clearcoat."

2.  Has anyone found a dip stick replacement that has a thermometer in it?

3.  Has anyone found a good front fork brace - I'd like to run without the front fender.

Thanks for your help.  Love the bike - turning it into a bit of a cafe look.  Has less than 1500 original miles on it and really runs sweet.

Doug

is this a standard or a nitehawk?    Media blasting does good.  A fork brace might need to be fabricated. I might be persuaded to make some.  If you find a thermo for the dip let me know.
Welcome to the obsession!

Thanks, Terry.

It's a standard and I was hoping there was some type of paint remover that would work rather than blasting it.

I'll let you know if I find a temp sensor.

I can also imagine it becoming an obsession - just browsing through the earlier stuff.

1. Get yourself a palm type sander, with some sandpaper and go to town on that motor of yours. It will come off.
I have helped polish more than a few newer sportbike frames ( same idea) . You would be surprised what some
sandpaper and alittle elbow grease will do..
2. I am not sure about your bike, but my factory front fender (1972 CB750k2) had a brace built into it. I removed the fender
from the brace, and kept the fender off. Pics in my gallery.

Welcome to the site, lots of good info here............ ;D

terry - would you really consider doing fork braces if you could sell enough of them to us? do you have a photo of what you might be able to design? and...how much would you be asking for something like that...?

thanks - cbj...

I'll kick it around in my head.   Would we want something to us instead of front fender.
Send me a pm so I can save it or I'll forget.
