Welllllll........
My gf has said a few times that she want to learn how to ride. My bobber is is almost finished so I thought I'd just let her ride my cb550. She is pretty small and I think the 550 might be a bit heavy considering she hasn't even riden a dirt bike.
I decided to bring the first bike I even owned back to life for her......and add come cafe flavor.
The tank was a busted up, wiring was a rats nest, bad tires.....typical old motorcycle.
The red tank is just for mock up (early cb500)
I took it out of the basement today and pressure washed it.

I'm going to make a new mounting bracket for the coils tomorrow. I had move them to fit the tank.
I beat the knee dents in that tank with a claw hammer.....for mock up.
The tank that I using is the same style cb500 tank with knee dents and nice black paint....and a light blue checker stripe. I should have the tank back from the body shop next week.
I will also be getting a cafe seat pan, new firestones, head light mounts, louder pipes, and a few other cool trinkets.
She doesn't know about the bike and I'm not gonna show her till it's finished. She better like it!

Sry about the hold up. I've been really busy with work....and lots of work around the house.
I did a little more work on the bike tonight.

The body work on the tank (not the one pictured) is finished and the body shop is waiting on my to bring the bike in.

Thanks man. I'm going to build a base for the seat this weekend. I've got to hide the regulator/CDI/soleinoidunder there somehow. I also need a small battery but haven't decided on which one yet. Ive seen a few small ones for cheap but none list cranking amps. The specs on the stock battery just say 12v 9Ah.

..not sure if the 200 is a single downtube frame...and that chunk of tubing on the floor is from that bike?...

The 200 is a single down tube. The section of frame in the floor was part of a gl1100 that I cut to pieces and sent to the crusher.

Ive done some hack #$%* before but give me a little more credit than that.
I had my friend Issac do a little drawing on her new helmet. I'm going to give it to her on Tuesday night. The triquetra mates a tattoo she has and the ribbon is for her mother who just beat breast cancer.

I hope she likes it.

I used the super clean speedo from my cb550.....I made a single gauge mount tonight. It turned out pretty decent.

I also cut this out to fill in the hollow cafe seat pan. I'm going to mount the most of the electronics inside the seat.

took a few more pics yesterday. Progress is slow on this thing. I decided it gonna have to be a X-mas present due to lack of time and funds. I will be pulling the motor and having the frame and most small parts powder coated. I guess I'll use the black pj1 paint on the motor and trans. The AL side cover will get a nice polish. I want everything to look new.

She really liked the helmet. I gave it to her when I picked her up at the airport....from her two week trip to England/Ireland. Then I also "gave it to her" in the airport parking deck...lol

Haha.....If they are then I might have a an adult video floating around somewhere.

I worked on the bike a little tonight. I need a really small battery that will still be strong enough for the starter. I wish the POS had a kick starter....O well. the solenoid, CDI, and regulator will be mounted under the rear hump of the seat pan.

My bobber project is going to be put on hold till the winter. I'm going to rob the tires and head light from it for this bike. I should have some good pics to post up by the weekend. I will also snap one of her wearing the helmet.

I started on the wiring but I'm a bit confused. I'm going to buy a small high output battery next time I get paid.
