gear problems on CB 750 K5
« on: May 29, 2012, 08:55:10 PM »
Opened up the cases today and found a lump of junk under the first selector fork, looks like it might have been stopping second gear engaging properly, it's worn the fork quite a bit at the ends of the fork and also where it enters the gear. Looks like I'm replacing some parts here.

Yes that's the classic wear pattern of a bent shift fork. The groove it rides in is also chewed up past use. This is the classic "hops out of second gear" symptom.

The fork usually becomes bent from some heavy handed shifting. PO or you? I've done some speed shifting in the past and replaced the same parts, back when they were available from Honda. Now they are NLA.

Yamiya has reproduced those two parts for mega money. $700+ I think.

Maybe David Silvers Spares has them?

Best bet may be a low mileage trans from eBay.
