Getting the OEM look..
« on: July 31, 2011, 10:50:03 AM »
Greetings,

Several great posts on buffing aluminum to a chrome like finish. How about the OEM look?

I want to get my engine covers back to the stock look. I didn't find anything doing a search. Maybe I missed it.  ::)

The hardest part is getting them to the proper sheen then getting them cleaned and finding a clear finish that will adhere and last. I don't think there has been a good solution to that. I tried eastwoods Diamond Clear. It is supposed to stick but mine peeled off. Not sure why? I prepped it with acetone after the buffing.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Thanks. I am having my lower fork tubes re-done to factory finish out in CA. I have talked with him about doing the cases the same way only less of a "brushed" finish.

Just trying to gather extra stator, transmission and clutch housing cases for a 1977 CB 750K. This way I can just do a swap out.

Enclosed a picture of lower fork tube restoration he is doing at this time. Tell you what. These Vendors take their sweet time getting the work done!  :(

Look up vapour blasting.  Damn near fresh from the factory look.
