Hi,

I removed wiring from my bike to replace or test it, at some point. Now I'd like to replace the soldered connections. I made due with wire nuts and electrical tape. Is it possible to re-solder these connections. I have only a very basic soldering iron.

The Honda connections were originally not soldered but crimped. You could do a good job with a decent soldering iron and some experience with soldering but cleaning and crimping new connectors might be easier for you. You did not say if you had a good supply of the correct metric connections. You might try:

There were a few soldered connections in the harness, I believe there was one or more collections of black wires (hot) soldered together at a couple of junction points as well as a couple of green (ground) bundles soldered together at a couple of junction points as well. These were usually heavily taped up and buried deep in the harness. The size of the bundled/soldered connections I've seen in the harness makes me think you would need a high heat/high wattage iron to flow solder through such a large collection of wires. Mechanical connectors (i.e. Vintage Connections) might be an option.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, that's what remember. There were several ground and some ignition wires, both with a lot of branches, twisted and soldered together. I'll give it a try and see if it works. Maybe I'll try those old connectors. Thanks again.
