Hello from Oklahoma
« on: July 21, 2011, 09:55:16 PM »
Hello from Oklahoma, i just picked up a 1972 cb500. Look forward to getting to know you guys as i start the rebuild. I'm not new to bikes, just new to bikes this old.

So far i know that the seat pan isn't factory, the kickstand mount is broken off, there is an oil leak somewhere on the lhs, and the tank has been painted (poorly) black over a metallic flake red or maroon. Obviously the bike isn't in running condition, but it was cheap.

So my first question is, does the vin tell you what color the bike was from the factory?

Greetings from Colorado. No color code in VIN.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Welcome to the SOHC/4 forum. The 500 & 550 were good bikes. I had a all stock 1976 CB550 many years ago and it was a nice bike. Wish I had held on to it :(
