CB550 Clutch Characteristics

Ok, I am quite used to my modern bikes now, and I'm not sure if my clutch is out of adjustment, needs new plates, or is a typical.

It's sort of a "light switch" on/off clutch.  Grabs ok and I haven't detected any slippage once engaged, but requires a very fine manipulation to make it take up smoothly, probably the last 1/4 inch of lever travel.

I redid my slippy clutch with new plates, it is now more like a lightswitch, but is smoothing out with usage.

What oil are you using? That comes up as a repeat question on these. Apparently some of the new oils impact the behavior and Castrol Motorcycle oil is preferred.

Try adjusting in a bit more free play.
