Hello from Southeastern Michigan
« on: July 25, 2011, 04:29:42 PM »
Hello everyone,

About a month ago my next door neighbor gave me a 1973 cb500 4. This bike has sat for over 18 years in a garage semi covered up. After removing the rust from the tank, taking the carbs apart and cleaning them ewww 18 year old fuel, glad he turned the petcock to the off position. Hooking up a old car battery this bike fired right up could not believe it. So there started this project which has turned in to a fun bike to cruise around. So far I have taking it to work  a few times enjoying the ride and the fuel mileage. She smokes a little when she warms up so I will probably ride it to the end of this season and look into honing, rings and pistons if needed. The exhaust needs replacing it already has a 4 into 1 header, so after looking I bought the chrome 4 into 1 mac setup and that will put me to about 600$ total to get this bike rolling and looking pretty good for a 38 year old bike. This site has helped me with my project and I would like to thank all who have contributed their time and knowledge to help others with their projects.

Welcome.

So, where's the obligatory picture of the bike?  ;)

Sorry for the late reply, been working a lot lately. I do have a couple of pics when I first rolled it home from the neighbors garage. Just finished replacing the old Kerker  4 into 1 with a chrome mac wish the mac sounded like the kerker did but that pipe was just to banged up and rusty  :(. I seen a gallery but have not figured out how to upload pics to it. have to get some new ones. lol then I noticed it when I posted

Still need a few more parts and a little paint and a lot of cleaning but this bike is coming along nicely.
