Im not really into it, and thought i was going to trade it back to the original owner....well now it looks like its mine forever....

Im told they are very rare but i really cant find much info about them....so any help would be great.

Yeah I might be able to make money parting it but it's really to nice for that.
I'll just keep on trying to fix it up and keep seeing if I can sell it...

Is the bike complete?  Worth 500 to 1100 in good running condition-keep that in mind if you need to buy any parts. Should be easy to fix as it is pretty much the bare essence of technology, and it sure would be cool to cruise around the block...Larry

The bike is missing a few small things but I think I found a guy with the parts I need so hopefully that works out.
Ran really well last fall when I got it and stored it.
Tried once this spring but it needs the carb cleaned and some wires sorted.

Only seen a few up for sale and the last to went for $700-900.  Neither had titles and one was not turning over.
Also here near NYC small bikes bring big money, problem Im having is its rare and people cant find info and get scared off.

I was a mechanic back then and never saw one so you're right about the scarcity, and I can see where you could get big bucks near NYC-it'd be  a great vintage  scoot around in the cafe style.  Good luck with it...Larry

  • I REALLY? hate black rims.
I'm not 100% sure but in the Uk, it was known as the FS1E and there were millions of them, might help in your search for spares.

That's  true Sam - a massive FS1E following in the UK with some dealers that supply literally everything to fix up, tune up and customise the little things. The purple ones seem to command most money with mint restored ones going for as much as £3000-3500! I'd love on to tinker with but it's a bit rich for my pocket as a plaything...

This is very much related to the fs1
It's 80cc and no peds

Talked to a few guys over on that side of the pond about parts
Problem is shipping and the demand for the parts.

actually bought a manual.....thats crazy for me....normally i just down load them

mounted the tires and cleaned up the chrome on the wheels.
Really did clean up nice

Painted the rear fender, there is a crack in it but it looks a million times better as one uniform color
Also painted the miss matched side cover.  I think it looks better then the fadded red.

Think i found some of the small missing parts that i need to get this ting back together and on the road so i hope to have them all bought and shipped this week.

Absolutely not!  Keep it. Just take your time and restore that thing and many Yamaha Dealers or collectors may want to buy it.

Many times I have considered buy a used motorcycle and when I see a lot of parts stripped off of it, I walk away because i know all the work it takes to go find all the missing parts. One big easter egg hunt. Forget it.
It is worth more and will sell quicker when you leave it all together.

Many people start adding up the cost of all the parts and figure they can make a lot by selling all of the parts but you know many of those parts are not needed very often, like the swing arm. The owners can rebuild a swing arm with new bushings. They do not need a new one. And if they buy a used swing arm it will need rebuilding too.

So what you end with when parting out a bike is a lot of parts no one will ever buy.
And some people WOULD buy the parts if they knew you had them, but who can afford to advertise them for months? That costs money too.
