Rich on 1 and 4?

After fine tuning the carbs, I still run a little rich on 1 and 4.

I am suspect a weak spark instead of a carb problem? Since they share a coil it would make sense.

Yes......I would look at the ignition system first. If it were 1 &2 I would check for fuel delivery. You could have bad points,coil,or bad connection. Could be out of time  but you're right about going for the ignition before fuel.

check the spark plug cap resistance.
