cb motorcycle rims chrome plated or polished aluminum?

Are the rims on the cb bikes chromed or is it polished aluminum?  I have a cb550.

Oh okay, another question then.  I have a bunch of gouges in the rim that I wanted to sand down and then polish it out.  Is the rim stainless plated or is it a stainless polished?

Chrome plated steel buddy (750 autos where anodized alloy). I would'nt waste your time trying to sand and polish them lol.

Chromed.  Every now and then they pop on ebay brand new for about $99 bucks.  Not too bad.

Agree with the chrome plated steel crowd. As such repairing a deep scratch is virtually impossible. Polish the chrome around the scratch. Many chrome polishes are rust remover as well, like Turtle Wax brand. So get the rust out of the scratch so the silver steel shows thru. That's about as good as it gets.  Short of a new rim.

 I certainly wouldn't want to scuff up the chrome you'll never get it to shine again.

I was worried that it would be chrome.  Looks like I will have to look out for a new/used one or get this rechromed thanks enveryone.
