Emblems are repainted

and looking spiffy,  thanks to tips from previous posts.  Flat black rattle can spray, then wiped with a lint-free cotton T-shirt stretched around a 4"dia foam pool noodle. 10 minute job. ;D
Question - how to reattach securely?  don't want to lose them -  no pins or screws on the tank emblems and only 1 pin on each of the side cover emblems. Some sort of goop? Any and all success (and failure) stories about materials and technique would be appreciated.

How about going to a glass install place and have them use some of that black goo they use on wind shields to hold them on.

3M is definitely the way to go.  have had my emblems on for two years using the double sided tape and now problems.  All the car places us it.

Did you paint the gold too, or just the black?
Why worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough troubles of it's own.

just the black - gold is good except for a few small flaked off patches.

Those look real nice.  So did you actually cut masking tape around all those little letters?  How long did that take?  I've always sucked at coloring in the lines

Those look great! Makes me wanna paint mine now.

Slightly off topic: I'm missing the emblem on the back of my seat (78 750F). Got any pics of that? Know where I can get one?

endo - no masking tape or colouring between the lines required.  ;D  Spray the whole thing and then immediately wipe off with the setup described above.  I used a slight 'spinning' motion into the direction of travel with the cloth/foam to help pick up and off the wet paint and to continually present a clean cloth surface. Like a drum floor sander pulled backwards or a combine pickup. Hope thats clear - hard to explain.  Only the top letters make contact when swiped as the recessed background is below the level. The tight, thin, closely woven  absorbent cloth on a firm base  is key.  Also, it helped to start at the middle  and work out so as not to smear the wet paint at the ends. A couple of passes and presto - done and the paint is still wet enough to flow and settle into a nice edge.

Rushoid - if you mean the emblem on the top of the tail piece, no, mine was gone when I got it, and no, don't know where to get one. I filled the two mounting holes and forgot about it.

Yes, that's the one. Saw a beat up 78 in a parking lot the other day. About the only thing that looked decent on it was that emblem. Was real tempted to pop it off the bike and into my pocket, but I was a good boy. I'll probably just fill mine too.
