General Tuning Question...
« on: May 02, 2006, 06:04:49 AM »
Okay, everything else being equal (timing good, filters cleaned, new plugs... etc...) what would make a bike run richer and richer over time? I'm talking over a couple of years here with no changes to the set up. Visably running richer according to the plugs (and exhaust) and gas milage dropping by about 5-10 miles per gallon?

The Basics: Ducati 750 V-twin. K&N Air filter (stock air box) and race (glass pack) pipes. It has been this set up since early 2001 when I was getting 50+ MPG. Now I am getting just over 40 and the plugs (which I change often) are showing that it is running rich. What should I be looking for?

Granted this isn't a SOHC honda question... Heck, it isn't even Japanese. It's just a quesiton that I have for those out there who are knowledgeable in such matters.

Ducs wear out needles and needle jets due to large amount of air going up and down in intake. Make sure the main jets arent loose as well.
