So I just installed my new 5 ohm Dyna coils and Dyna 7mm copper wire set. I used the moulded plug caps on the DYna wires and new resistor plugs. SO my only resistance is 5ohms at the plugs.

The more I thought about it, the old caps were 10ohms, and the PO had installed 5ohm resistor plugs for a total of 15, not including the wear on the 10 ohms plug caps which increase resistance with age. I could have been at 20ohm of resistance at the plug. Too much I assume.

The bike runs fantastic with the new Dyna coils, Dyna wires and "R" plugs.

Mine has the same setup.  I am running Platinum NGK Resistor plugs, with the dyna wires, dyna 5ohm coils, and dyna s ignition... Its a great setup, and I have never had a charging issue.

How was the Dyna S install? DO you have to run new wires from the ignition housing case to coils, or does everything get wired right in the side case?

you run 1 wire to the coils. its super easy.  The P.O. installed mine, but I had to remove it and do it over. He screwed it up.  It uses the stock spark advancer, but on SOME of the stock advancers there is a pin on the shaft you have to remove.  He decided to forgo removing that pin.  That made the whole assembly stuck on full advance all the time.  I removed the pin and now the springs do their job and it works great.  Its a pretty neat little system.

No problem, you can hide anything on those bikes. Cops would never think to look for my stash!

Dyna 5ohm coils, NGK 5Kohm caps, NGK D7EA plugs, NAPA 7mm copper core wire by the bulk. Runs like a bat outta hell with perfetly tuned carbs.

Did you use the DC81 Dyna Coil 5 Ohms coils?
