« on: July 31, 2011, 08:58:17 PM »
i have an oportunity to pick up a 1972 cb750a from a scrap yard for about $60-80. just wondering if this is something i should get or is it already on a good home? it seems to be mostly complete. has a tank. are the motors pretty good for building? ive had a few people say that the automatic was not the bike to have. thanks the help.

I would grab it. I know a man who gets everyone he can.

Have a look at the steering tube ( neck ) again for the date of build..... 750A's were only produced in '76, '77 and '78.  ;)......

Get it! Better safe than sorry at that price. Spanners right about the years, but if it looks like it might run again you may be able to trade it up later! I have been noticing the 750a have been showing up alot with low miles. I guess the wife got a bike too and into the back of the garage it went for 30+ years!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

I think they are mostly low mileage because the owners died of boredom while riding, not anything to do with mechanical problems.  Mine have all been good running, solid machines.  By the way, the rims are worth that............
