I just bought a Bosch 7" round H4 lens and a 35/35W 9003 bulb. As far as I know they are plug and play but we will see. My thinking is the 35W draw on the anemic 550 charging system is less than the stock 40W/50W OEM bulb but the actual light output will be the same or better. Any thoughts?

BTW I don't ride after dark much the headlight is more for being seen than anything else.

$21.08 for a genuine Bosch headlight. I ordered one a few months ago and it is a very nice headlight.

Duanob,  I was thinking about doing the same thing.   Did it work out OK?

So far so good. I rode in the dark last night and the light output is on par with the OEM with a bit more focus.  I am hoping it will draw less watts from the charging system. I don't drive at night a lot but if I did I think I would go for the 60/55W bulb. I can always change out anytime since H4 bulbs are cheap. I would say go for it.

this is what i bought
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/35W-Motorcycle-BI-Xenon-HID-headlight-Kit-H4-H-L-10000K-/270734864108?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f090e2eec#ht_2767wt_939
and i bought this to put it in
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-DOT-H4-MOTORCYCLE-HEADLIGHT-HARLEY-HONDA-YAMAHA-/330471962590?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf1a9f7de#ht_2299wt_1165

the beam is nice and flat, and the bi-xenon function simply moves the bulb within the housing so that the beam points down more on the low beam setting.

put together it looks like this

I just installed this kit as well on a 750 and mounted everything outside the lamp housing - you'd have to look very closely to notice the extra hardware.  Just tie-wrapped the components to existing wiring or the frame underneath the tank.  There was already a lot of spaghetti inside the housing so didn't want to add more.
