I bought a 76 CB550F basket case from forum member "gmonkey" a few months back and now have enough of it together to start posting in a thread. The mission is to get it together by the end of the year...or by the end of next January and give it as a gift for a good friend of mine. I will get more into details.....later.

Here is the rough assembly of what I have for a bike.

Here is the seat and Tank that I just got from forum member "spiider"
Tank is an original Dunstall glass....that needs work.

The hard bags should be in this week. Should be an interesting looking bike.

I had to see how it all fit together....frigging perfect. Literally out of the box and onto the stock frame.

Cool bike, I like the 550 F's. Paint looks in good shape, does that stay? You have exhaust? The four into one header would look great on that bike...

Yeah, I have the stock four into one that has that sexy sweeep to the right. Chrome and in decent shape. I am not much of a color guy. My buddy would probobly prefer black or a grey metallic. I am also going to be putting a pedestrian slicer on the front fender.

The bags just came in....and they are frigging sweet.

Fiberglass and felt lined, oo la la. Pics tonight of another...rough mockup. I need to then start trying to get the thing running. LOL.

All of the parts right now are black but I am thinking to give them a dark grey metallic paint.

OK, I've felt for a while that the term "cafe" was overused and played-out. Now that I see it used in the context of a "cafe bagger", I know I was right.

What are you going to do with that abomination of a la-z-boy seat?

That seat might end up on my ATC70.
I thought about just chopping the backrest off and trying to turn the pass seat into a "bump".

Dare I say ironic juxtaposition. I just tried to find a clever photo but gave up. Maybe tonight when i post a pic of the bike it will all become clear. ha

I think that seat is too monstrously special to chop up. I think that the world needs it as a monument to style.

Sweet man. We have the same bags! Wish I had stolen the idea then I could blame someone for getting me in over budget. My wife like this bike better than Frankenbike because of the accessories.

That ATC is crazy. Like the bags, a bagger is on my list of future builds. Bike looks great in the pics, that tank/seat is a nice fit. I'd probably try the bags a touch lower, so you can see a bit more of the seat profile.
