Hells yeah. Nothing is bolted on yet. I was going to paint but might just leave it black. (as is) Maybe some gold pinstriping and....still need to get it running.

Gold pinstriping on black is awesome. Maybe sneak in a bit of leaf, too, but only if you can handle that much awesomeness.

I just got some black pullback drag bars. My buddy that is going to be riding this thing is 6+ feet tall. So it will be a "half bagger, half cafe"...all awesome-ness.

His last bike was a 62 Matchless.
Way, way back in high school the two of us bought a 78CB550 and were going to fix it up.....we took it all apart and it sat for months in his dads garage. One morning I just gave him his half in cash. That was my first motorcycle project and it was my goal to modify and F**K the thing up as much as possible. It motivated me that everytime he saw it he would say "Wow, I am impressed". So fast forward 15-20 years and I am going to give him his share of the bike back...sort of.
Actually my current avatar is of that first 550, and that is an 18 year old me in the mirror. Damn. I need to build a time machine.

OK, so any thoughts on lining the Dunstall tank. It is an all original glass tank. I am thinking to glass bead the inside then POR15 to line it.

If you have a solidworks file of your mounts I can import it into 3dsMax on my end.

Dave, no file for the mounts. I have all of the parts but have yet to even put anything together. Next time I get into the bike I will post some pics and dims of what I have. Then post pics of the mounting. In the pics I have and wrench holding the bag in place. Any progress on that helmet/ seat cowl idea? I was thinking about your plan and though about using the printout as a template for cutting an aluminum sheet. Solidworks has a "sheetmetal" function where you can design your part in 3d the just select the sheetmetal option and *POW* you have a flat part. If it is easier to create or import a cowl design with that program and flatten. WAIT. How about you could create the cowl as a flat part and have a waterjet cut out the contour....mass production aluminum cowl. One part. No BS welding, fitting, cutting, adding then cutting again. * am a plastic guy* pardon my ignorance if there is more to it. (those alloy seat guys want $400+)

I have been looking for a good product to line the tank with..too many horror stories of icky stickness melting from the old fiberlgass and into motorcycle lungs.

I started making a new set of headlight ears for this bike as well. A new product that I hope will catch on.

No progress on the Halo costuming. I've been too busy with school. Yes, I'm a 44 year old freshman....sigh.

The sheetmetal option in solidworks sounds cool. All I have in 3dsMax is UV mapping. However that works for me. The only metalworking tools I have are tinsnips and a drill, so I'll be sticking with resin and glass.
OK, I'm back to writing papers and studying for my Linux quiz tomorrow.

OK OK, long time. I have been plugging away on the caffbag again. I need it done just to get it off my list of "to do". I did a clean/degrease/sand prime an..paint(3 coats). It was a $20 one day wheel job.
For the yuppies I will just say "Look what I just got back from the powder coaters today, cant wait to get them on!!! smiley smiley"
