Swing arm bolt
« on: August 02, 2011, 01:23:24 PM »
Hello all went out for a few minutes before I have to get some sleep (been working overnights) :( and got the shocks off then started on the swing arm. I got the nut off on the right side when I turn the nut on the left side the whole bolt turns. I did a quick search and saw some stuff on bushing/seals but not how to get it out. When I wake up or get home in the morning will look at the manual and search some more. But if all I got to do is wack it on the right hand side to get it to come out let me know or if I am missing something . Figure I would put a nut on it so I can use a hammer on it without damaging it.

Thanks time for some zzzzz.

I like a wood dowel for any whacking to be done. Should slide right out with some persuasion.

Just did my K1 and had Hondaman do the bushings for me. The bolt on the right seems to stay with the shaft. If worse comes to worse you can use that bolt to unscrew the shaft without damage. I unscrewed it a ways to loosen it up inside and then used a rubber mallet and it came out fine. Don't want to mess up those threads.

You can get brass punch at Horror Freight, works better than wood.
