I'm sorry, I know this is not the right forum for this bike, but I'm desperate for some help, please! The "other bikes" forum is so quiet all the time.
So, I just replaced the handlebars on my '72 CL350, rewired everything through the bars, etc.. Well, when I went to put the clutch cable back on the lever, I heard this "pop" come from the cover area where the clutch cable enters the housing. It seemed like I pulled the cable too far or something. I screwed in the adjustment screw and cable to the lever, and now the clutch doesn't work. The lever was very easy to pull back and forth, so I knew that the rod wasn't getting any pressure applied.
So, I pulled off the cover and everything seems to be pulling back and forth normal, but the mechanism that is supposed to push in the rod seems to be slipping if the cable is adjusted too tightly. Very strangely too, every 4th pull of the clutch, and it does that "pop", and I have to pull the cable off of the mechanism, let it seat all the way down, then push it up and reseat the cable on it. This cycle happens over and over.
So I loosened the cable at the lower adjustment, and now the rod is getting pushed in, and the clutch feels normal now, but it is not disengaging. I'm very confused.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
