And for the record, I do know shops that do amazing work that have turned down being on CRTV because they didn't want to be made to look like jackasses, jerks, douches, or whatever victrol is popular on the internet. If you belive in the work that you do it actually isn't a hard decision.

All this for a 10 minute segment on a TV show...beautiful.

Geeto,  so far, you've called someone that you don't know a liar and a douche.  You've accused him of deception and having a lack of confidence and insecurity in his build.  A lack of integrity.  I really just don't know where to go with this, but I do take offense.

bottom line - the PO sold him the bike.  PO has been to his shop and knows what he does.  PO did not have to come on the show - he was invited by Bryan.  PO has been kept in the loop.  PO was even brought out to the track at Barber and got to ride the bike.  (If you can stand it, wait until episode 3&4)  There are no hard-feelings between the two and they remain in contact.

Cafe Racer TV makes all the editing decisions etc.  They create all the so-called drama.  It was a 10 minute segment edited down from many hours of film.

I give up.    You don't have to like it, that's everyones right.

As far as me always wanting to meet you guys...  I just figured you guys might be the type that goes to these vintage festivals.  I'm that kind of guy.  Easier to have a peaceful discussion face to face.  The written word can be taken a variety of ways.  It alwasy seems to elevate things.

Gonna go check on my carb boots....hopefully they've softened up enough to solve my air leak.

Jaguar - what's your suds of preference ?  I'll make sure I have some in the cooler as well as some of my local favorites.

I read this thread before watching the episode, and wondered if I would have the same reaction.  I'm not a total purist, possibly because the bike I started with didn't resemble the beauty it once had.

But then I watched the segment with the 750, and I have to say, I was about as appalled as I can be about bikes.  I find it hard to believe that the builder would have done that to a mint car, that may often be used for hot-rod doner.  Just choose the one next to it, rusting a waiting for a new life.

Cheap trick on the part of the show too.  They knew what he was up to, and to have the PO there was strictly for shock value. The builder said it himself, "wasn't sure if he would run up and say, no!". in my mind, that means you should have chosen a different bike.  What a tit.

Poor play.

On a brighter note, I just met one of the other builders featured this year (they showed him in the upcoming clips.  He ended up building a bike for under $1000 using an ATC engine.  Kudos for not chopping someone would cherish.

Several years ago Boyd Coddignton basterdized an early '60 Chevrolet Impala that was a one owner and in perfect condition. I think he even made a bike to match it. I'm not saying that's the right thing to do but in a customizers world...well nothing is sacred.

You are supposed to take offense. That is how an insult works.

I'll own up - do I really think someone I have never met is a douche and a liar? Probably not, but from TV and your follow up comments that is the way he is looking. I don't see this as an editing issue, the producer didn't put words in his mouth and gestures in his hands. Or did he? Do the crTV people have magical voodoo powers I am not aware of?

Doing something that shocks people because that is who you are may be dislikable, but it is honest. Doing something shocking you don't really believe in, just because it gives you some small gain at the risk of detriment to others - well that is just dislikable and dishonest. I am not saying fuller is out there stealing candy from children or pushing old ladies into traffic to steal their purses, but at some point he does have to realize negative attention is not better than no attention at all.

I'm with CafeDawg on this one. My favorite reality tv show was Drawn Together though. I think some of the people on here need to get off the internet and onto their bikes for a few hours. Hell, maybe even get laid.

You guys come to Barber next this October??  I'll buy you a beer and you can look at the bikes in person.   If you still laugh and can't appreciate them for what they are, I'll buy you another beer and send you on your way to find other things to gripe about.     ;)

Hey, what about me?  I like beer.  I even tried to be positive.  Fine, the bike sucks and Bryan Fuller is a big fat weenie!
Now can I have a PBR with you guys?  :'(

Keep in mind, he's a car guy, not a motorcycle enthusiast. All I can say is.....I would never buy a bike from that guy. No respect for bikes. They could've done the right thing and at least put some of those parts up for sale on ebay or something, so those who need them could have them.

Thats the point alot of us are upset about.
He might be a nice guy and know his #$%*....

But he is now a part of that show.  The show is just finding ways to validate mike seate's point of view and idea to make money.
Tons of newbies are going to see that show and get caught up in all the style bull #$%* and think what was done on the show is really a way to go about building a "cafe"

the sad think is that it was a nice platform that could have done alot of good for the hobby
I really was bound to happen when you have a self proclaimed "chopper guy" leading the way.

really should find some of the things the people in charge of CRTV said about jap bikes and cafes a few years ago....now they want to suckle the cafe tit

I paused a few frames from the episode where they raped and violated the '69 sandcast just to do a little investigating. It was a K5 motor in an EARLY SANDCAST frame. The frame on the bike during the molestation definately had a left side horn mount (I'm not talking about the aftermarket sideways horn), the old pics of the bike w/ Feldman on it showed it had a short-neck brake line w/o a rubber cover, and a smooth oil filter housing. Subtle clues proving it was a VERY EARLY sandcast built during the 1st week of production. And that would mean it also had the very desirable high-capacity wrinkle tank (nearly impossible to source and worth over $2500) that was summarily carved open like a tuna can (it was mentioned on the pre-view show that it had a wrinkle tank, and the owner said its very rare). The regrettable part about cutting the top of the gauges off with a bandsaw, and the turkey throwing those sandcast-drive gauges on the floor, calling them "garbage" really showed their true ignorance. The upper triple tree destroyed was also unique to the EARLY sandcasts it being lighter in weight and a few details from later sandcasts and K0's. Totally unnecessary to destroy these rare parts, and ignorant. They could have taken a junked CB750 and had the same end results. Upper trees are a dime a dozen.  I liken this to bulldozing the Empire State Building to make way for a parking lot. Or cutting down a 250 year-old Maple tree for a cell phone tower.
Some of us like our old CB750's....
The concensus here by CB750 enthusiasts and experts is not favorable in the least; quite the oppositte to put it mildly.

Fuller doesn't give a f*ck what you think, He's a opportunist business man. He knows the more he's on T.V. the more sh*t he sells. I'm sure he's getting orders for what I would guess "very expensive" Cafe Racers an for that, good for him.

P.S No one picked on his trendy facial hair yet.......Its a little douchie to have a flavor savor on your chin, but hey he is a "builder" It a stereotype like an engineer wearing a pocket protector (think Michael Douglas in falling down)

Lets start a poll about this Fuller and his Cafe Racer CB750 hacking crew: (choose 1)

  1. Fuller is a talented genius and is a brilliant motorcycle builder with legions of new fans

  2. Fuller is a totally clueless butcher and is in the same class as Orange County Choppers (which he probably aspires to)

  3. Fuller is a (feel free to place your own comments here. Keep it under 20 words or less)

736 - I agree with your earlier post - he could/should have started with a junker.   Kinda wish he would have poked his head in here first for a bit of a sohc education.    But - a clueless butcher aspiring to be OCC ?   ouch, that's low.

So - I'll choose option 3 - Fuller is: an elite designer/builder/fabricator that just happens to be pretty enough to put on TV. He unknowingly chopped up HIS 69 K0 with some great unobatanium sandcast parts.  Live and learn.

Don't know what's going to happen to all the left over parts, but I know they aren't in the trash.  I'll get him to make a list and put them up for sale here.  I'm sure he'll sell them cheaper that you could get them on ebay.
