So how are we going to tell the difference in bearing material and clutch material when you change the oil?? Does the copper work better than the basic steel plates? Whats the overall reasoning to using these versus stock plates?

An ignorant mind needs some knowledge please!!!!!!!

Better feel, better heat disapation,  less likely to warp, ........and Barnett and RC found them to be better!  As Frank says, the track will be the ultimate test. They were made by Barnett, stamped on the  copper ones. The friction ones, not so sure who's they are. Bill, should of have already been 10'S  Benton! ;D

They were the first friction that didn't slip under heavy abuse. However these are the metal plates,  the friction could/would swell etc. If Barnett didn't work in yours or others they still sell a lot of  products. And made there name with clutches. Other's thoughts?  Frank's going be hard to beat......but Grasshopper is trying!  ;D, Bill

Not all products sold work for everyone. I'm going to stick with oem. Never had good luck with Barnett in anything I've owned. I guess I'm not as good a rider as most- hard on parts

Correct Billy, the 750/4 drag bike I bought ran 10's {776cc's on methanol} and a Barnett clutch, that clutch is still in the engine, I'm changing it out for the street though, they are a bit grabby on the street... ;)

I usually take off around 7_8000rpm and slip the clutch for 30-50 ish feet..the Barnett just keeps taking it..hundreds of times.... Cant see stock doing that for long.  ( this was on my 836).
Frank the pic of you with wheel up in the air ......had you let go of the clutch ?
On the Xl 350 on the dirtvtrack I was often launching wheel up by slipping the clutch..

If the wheel was in the air, the clutch was probably fully released. A went for years on a stock clutch in this engine even with the Mickey Thompson drag slick. I will admit that I've not seen any difference in the 60' between the little slick and the Shinko hookup. The main thing is I never really did a burnout with the slick, only a few dry hops.

Do you dump them or slip them ? Not too much stress on a clutch that is on or off..
There is a local Honda that I think does 1.5 in the 60 ft or so..its an 11 sec bike will see if I can get more info..

Since I don't have benefit of training wheels behind me, I have to slip the clutch. I'm  leaving the line between 7000 & 8000rpm so the clutches take a beating  but hold up pass after pass. I went 7 years on the same stock clutch pack and changed it cause I was going to an important 5 day event. Didn't want to take chances. It was still in useable condition though there was some wear. Listen, I'm not saying anything is gospel, I'm only stating what works best for me. I believe in stock clutch packs and have used them in every brand bike I've owned, street or race. You fellas by far have more experience in all aspects of these bikes than I ever will so I'm trying to learn how it works for you in hopes I can pick up new knowledge. I enjoy learning from the forum members. This site has been invaluable to me. I only can hope at some point something I've posted will help someone else. Drag racing is my passion but not my primary focus. I still will not use Barnett clutches in anything I own.

You're way past the point of something helping.  How about lots of somethings over the years! Please keep it up. Mike Rieck likes stock plates also. The clutch in Calendar Girls has been in it since the 90's, hmmmm maybe that's it! Lol. Frank, you a damn good rider, all who watch and pay attention can learn from you. Now find me some wheels please sir! Bill

Keep your cash on hand cause it might be a buy it right now or loose it kind if deal. 17" rear PM chicanes are difficult to find but the narrow front 18" wheels are even more of a needle in the hay stack issue. Odds are they'll still be cheaper than some gold anodized rims with a spoke kit from Buchanan. We've got to get you hooking man. Damn the bling!!!!
