76 CB750 Head Gasket replacment...a little help please
« on: August 05, 2011, 10:55:37 AM »
Hello SOHC World,

Yes, you guessed it, I need to replace my Head Gasket. I have scoured the forum looking for a step by step but have found nothing.

Anybody have any idea where I can locate a 76 CB750 Head Gasket replacement walk through? The only one I found was a book to order for $27, I'd rather take advantage of this world wide web thing that brings information to your fingertips.

Thanks folks, any help is appreciated.

Bliss,

Why are you replacing it? It's rarely actually the gasket itself. Usually the rubber "pucks" or the cylinder studs stretching creating loose nuts and a corresponding leak. The unfortunate part is you have to remove the engine to retorque the nuts on the stretched studs then next thing you know you're doing the whole top end anyway. There's always the "Gordon frame kit" for next time if you're going to keep the bike. You can take the top end apart or just torque the head without remoing the engine if you install this.
