The texture is fine to me. I hope the decal will stick to it though. I attached the decal that I got x3. So, I could cut the number out to be original or cut the oval to fit the black area of the plate. I wonder how much sanding I would need to do so I can polish it if I cut the number out.  Hmmm, decisions decisions...

I hate to have to tell you this but you are going to have to split those cases unless the crankshaft seal will come out from the outside.

A new crankshaft seal is an absolute must of the engine will have no compression and will be impossible to start.

On a two stroke the crankcases contain the compression. Bad crank seal-low compression.

Thanks for the info on the seal! I did not know that.  I have started to split the case already. It needs a crank bearing as there is too much play in the piston rod. I have to have the crank taken apart at a machine shop to do that. It's a one piece bearing an rod. I might need a new crank journal that I think just became obsolete.

So those seals are on my list along with the crank bearings. ;).

Joe created another miracle for me!  The original number plate was wasted and crumbling.  Joe took what was left of the original crumbling front number plate and repro'd it.  The white edging is a second piece, same as the original.  Personally, I think he did a fantastic job!  And no, this plate is unobtanium and if these show up on eBay, the price would sky rocket!

Thank you Joe!!!!

It fits nice too!  Joe is a genius!

No I have not split the cases yet. I have not ordered the crank pin, big end bearing and gaskets yet. I do not want to have it apart and lose the mental picture of how it should go back together.

I have been working on the plastics though. The side covers and front fender have a nice shine but I am wanting more. The rear fender glistens. The original tank is ok but not as nice as I would like. It has a hole in the bottom sealed with rubber washers, metal washers, a nut and a bolt.

The other tank I picked up off of eBay looked in really good shape in the pics. There were what looked to be black cracks all over it when I got it. They all sanded out nice accept for one spot. I don't have much more plastic left in one spot and I can see the massive sanding spot from across the garage. $70 down the drain I recon.
