ReNew guy from MN
« on: August 05, 2011, 01:29:56 PM »
So, I've been a forum member for about a year, but didn't actually have a bike.  I had a Shadow many moons ago, but gave it to my brother when I had my first kid.  I've been looking to get back into motorcycles for a couple years now.  After several near misses last summer and plenty o' searching between then and now, I brought home a bike 2 days ago.  '76 CB550K - 19, 700 miles, runs fairly well, needs a few things (tires, random fasteners, etc.), but is solid enough that I rode it to a bike night yesterday here in Mpls to meet the infamous rally mascot, Godzilla.  Somehow I thought he'd be bigger...

At the bike night, I met fellow members srust58, Accolay - nice guys, and very gracious with offers of tools, help wrenching, etc.  Member Vance was there, too, but I'd already met him, because he went with me to check out several bikes and was on the lookout for potential buys.  Stand up guy who went out of his way to help someone he'd never met.

All told, I'm fortunate to now have a bike and a reason to re-introduce myself, and more fortunate to be surrounded by a community of fellow SOHC'ers.

Thanks Greg! You know I will always be willing to help another guy spend his money :)

Congrats on the bike and we'll go for a ride soon!

Congratulations on the new bike!  It looks good.  I think my 750 has pretty much the same exhaust and it has been very durable and has a nice note without being too loud.  I don't know what brand it is.

I hope you enjoy the ride!
