After buying front and rear wheel bearings, master cylinder rebuild kit, caliper seal, and a 16t front sprocket I m left with about $68 for tire tubes/mount and balance.I trying to focus on safety and reliability first before looks. Appearance  can always come at later time but safety is priority. I am lucky to have people close to me that support my interest.I received cycle gear and dime city gift cards for x mas that I have used to buy a chain and still have a balance. With that and some strategic bartering I should stay with in my budget.Every project I have ever done has always included unexpected cost so I will keep my fingers crossed.

Got the front-end put together.I also was able to get some time to rebuild the front brake caliper. Not as bad of shape as I thought  it might be but took some cleaning to get the old nasty fluid out.The piston seemed to be relatively pit free.I hooked up my master cylinder so I could pop out the piston easily pic#1.I also made some progress on the   Throttle and handle bars thanks to forum member 000jeremy giving me a great price and fast delivery on a set of clip on bars.Which will set me over budget but I might rename this project- A day late and a dollar short.I'm chipping away whenever I get a spare moment but I did not fully realize how busy I was going to be with a newborn and trying to contain my three year old son.Fun stuff but never a dull moment.

Got my tires mounted and balanced finally.I installed new bearings and gave a quick clean up.everything looks straight and true but I will know for sure once I can get it rolling.

The vinegar worked pretty good in the tank and a little too well in the petcock but you live and you learn.Anyone with a spare petcock for a early cb350 let me know.I did end up using the Works too.I have heard great things about this 99 cent toilet bowl cleaner /rust destroyer. Great stuff pretty much just hydrochloric  acid and burns like hell if you get it on you so wear gloves. After a good rinsing and a magnet to remove all the nails I gave it good flushing with baking soda and water. Then I rinsed it,dried it and put a little acetone to get any other moisture out and sealed it with Redcoat.

Just in case there is anybody out there still following here's a little update. Started today with the clean up and paint for the gauges.I had to transplant the glass from another gauge due to being shattered. There seem to be at one time a family of spiders living in one.I also took out the scratches and dings of the alternator badge and gave it some color.here are some before and afters.

Well, I kinda cheat.I use a fine scotch brite like pad on a die grinder to get it cleaned up then I put them on a  bench polishing wheel.I also use a Dremel for the small stuff.Lots of degreaser and acid baths.

It's just a big pot of Diluted "The works" toilet bowl cleaner.I think it's basically Hc acid.Depends on the part as to how long I leave it in for.Anything chrome is for a short while because it eats away at the chrome pretty fast.Nuts and bolts, cast metal parts etc. I will leave in there overnight .

Well cut my losses and decided to go with a different gas tank.I sold off the cb350 tank and got a early cb550 tank with the offset filler.I sold the cb350 tank and it paid for the cb550 tank and I even made a couple bucks. I ran into a lot of problems finding a pet cock "a year specific 350f only" and ones I did find were expensive and needed a rebuild. Also a lot of work was needed In order to make the tank fit level. I was going to have to move the cups in the front and also try to figure out how to cover up the gap between the tank and the seat.I think this move will save me some time and money ,and also give the old tank a proper home on a cb350 were it belongs. Here is a couple pics of the new to me 550 tank and the freshened up gauges installed.

Installed a new 16 tooth sprocket and new chain today. The original 17 tooth sprocket was shot and the old chain had lots of small cracks that makes me think someone over tightened it at one time.

Well, I am officially a day late and a dollar short on my project.Even though I was not able to complete  my project in time ,I believe without the motivation of my goals I would be way more behind schedule than I am.Not to make excuses but in the last year we had a baby, got knee surgery, and my grandmother just recently passed.I will miss her dearly ,she was an amazing person. She and my Grandpa helped raise me after my dad was killed in a motorcycle accident and were always there to help me out.The upside is that I have now inherited my grandparents home. The house was built in 1938 and has a lot of charm but is keeping me and Wife busy with a full renovation that is consuming my weekends. It is making  it even harder for me to chip away at the bike.I prefer working with ratchets and screwdrivers than saws and paintbrushes but I am learning a thing or two about home improvements.I did start on mounting the seat.I used a old cutting board and template to cut the shape from.It should work out fairly well. The spacers are just an idea in case I need them but thinking they might not be necessary.

Working on the carbs today.A fellow forum member is helping out with some fuel tee O rings.I am replacing all the hoses with fresh ones and polishing up the housings a little.I figure some preventive maintenance now will pay off instead of leaking fuel all over my freshly painted motor.

Thanks to forum member Witttom for a great deal and fast shipping I was able to get set of coils with wires and splicers that happen to fit my color scheme perfect.I was also able to set the floats in my carbs.Everything was going great until I snapped a main jet holder.I now realize that it is a part that is fairly difficult to get a replacement for but maybe a forum member can help me out of this one too.

Here's a couple of photos as she sits now.I got the carbs put on and the airbox buttoned up.Also new to me coils mounted.I have bled the brakes and put  in fresh oil and filter. I am constantly back and fourth on the paint scheme. I leaning towards a pearl black and candy yellow with Honda decals.I have a viper fairing sitting on a shelf but cant decide if im going to use it or not.My opinion is it might set it apart from the others around town here.I am waiting till I can scrape together some cash and buy a dyna ignition and some other odds and ends.I plan in doing the simplified wiring and test run it soon.
